Invisalign® Clear Braces

Orthodontic treatment is usually associated with those awkward teenage years, yet it can also be extremely beneficial for adults. However, most adults resist traditional braces because they are intrusive and inconvenient to wear.

At the Cosmetic and Dental Implant Center, we offer Invisalign® clear aligners to straighten your teeth and eliminate the discomfort of traditional braces.

If you are ready to learn more about Invisalign, you can schedule an appointment by calling our Huntington Beach office at (714) 968-2527, our Brea office at (714) 257-0330, our Placentia office at (714) 577-9070, or our Cypress dental office at (714) 761-2211.

Why Do I Need Braces?

While braces improve your smile and self-confidence, crooked teeth are more than an aesthetic problem. Our mouths are designed to function as a symmetrical system, which is easily disturbed by crooked, crowded teeth or an imbalanced dental bite.

Crooked growth can also alter the distribution of chewing forces, placing an abnormal amount of stress on certain teeth. This force can affect your long-term oral health and cause TMJ (temporomandibular joint) problems.

TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder) results in a myriad of symptoms, including head, neck, and jaw pain. Orthodontic treatment spares your jaw joints a lot of stress and makes it easier to maintain proper oral hygiene.

What Are Invisalign’s Benefits?

Invisalign clear braces provide a comfortable, convenient and discreet alternative to years of treatment with metal or ceramic brackets on your teeth.

  • Discreet: Clear aligners are barely noticeable when worn. You’ll be able to interact confidently without the embarrassment of brackets and wires and keep your orthodontic treatment a secret.
  • Comfortable: Brackets and wires on your teeth can rub against the inside of your mouth, causing soreness and irritation. Invisalign’s smooth plastic aligners are so comfortable that you may forget you’re wearing them!
  • Removable: Perhaps the most attractive benefit for patients is that Invisalign clear aligners are removable. You can enjoy all the foods you love without restriction and brush and floss easily. Just remember to rinse your aligners before putting them back in your mouth!

What Problems Can Invisalign Fix?

Invisalign is a powerful orthodontic treatment that can correct many of the same issues as traditional braces, including:

  • Crooked teeth
  • Crowded or rotated teeth
  • Overlapped teeth
  • Overbites
  • Underbites
  • Crossbites

Invisalign cannot correct severe bite problems, and we would be happy to refer you to a skilled orthodontist if this is the case.

What’s the Process for Getting Invisalign?

Invisalign treatment starts with an evaluation to determine if clear aligners are right for your needs. If your dentist recommends Invisalign, they use an intraoral scanner to create digital impressions that render a three-dimensional virtual model of your teeth.

Using that computer model, an Invisalign lab creates clear aligners designed to fit your teeth. Every set of aligners is unique because each is customized to gradually move your teeth closer to the desired position. We work closely with the Invisalign lab to ensure that each aligner fits our clients perfectly.

How to Wear Your Invisalign Aligners

When we receive your Invisalign aligners, we will provide you with the first few sets to get you started. Our dentist will instruct you to wear each set for 22 hours daily for one to two weeks, then change to the next set.

Each time you change to the next set of aligners, you’ll notice that they feel snug at first and then get a little looser as time goes by—this means your treatment is working, and you’re on your way to a straight, beautiful smile!
