Some of the common questions we hear are listed below, but don't hesitate to contact one of our convenient dental offices if there's anything else we can help you with!
Dental Implants
Dental implant surgery does not hurt because we use very powerful local anesthetics to numb the area we are treating. Once the nerves in the targeted area are deadened to any sensation, you won’t feel any pain. You will remain comfortable, and our dentists can work most efficiently to complete the implant placement procedure.
Comfortable Implant Surgery with Sedation Dentistry
Getting a dental implant placed is more straightforward than many people think. Even so, many patients, especially those with dental anxiety, prefer to be sedated for dental implant surgery. At CDIC, we offer oral conscious sedation and IV sedation that we tailor to your specific level of anxiety.
Dental Implant Surgery Recovery
Most of our patients report only minor discomfort after placement and say they experienced more soreness after tooth extraction than after implant surgery. You can easily resolve any minor soreness with over-the-counter pain relievers or pain medications prescribed by our dentists.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Dental Implants?
The quality and quantity of the jawbone where we wish to place the implant are vital to the procedure's success. For example, the upper back jaw is considered the most challenging area to place an implant due to insufficient bone quantity and its proximity to the sinuses.
In this case, our dentists recommend a procedure called sinus augmentation to ensure that they can place your implant in the well-developed bone.
Jawbone deformities can also leave you with inadequate jawbone for implant placement. To correct this, our dentists use bone grafting to modify the ridge. After the bone graft heals, our dentists can perform successful implant surgery.

Gentle Root Canal Therapy
We are so glad you asked! Patient comfort is our priority at CDIC, whether you’re having a root canal or a teeth cleaning. Our caring dental team cares about our patients and does an exceptional job of ensuring they have a stress-free experience.
A Team of Experienced Dentists
Our team of dentists has decades of combined experience, which is crucial for procedures like root canal (endodontic) treatment. They have performed hundreds of comfortable, successful root canals and bring their expertise to every procedure.
Leading-Edge Root Canal Technology
At CDIC, we use leading-edge rotary endodontic technology that improves the comfort, efficiency, and outcomes of root canal treatment. Rotary endodontics uses electrically-powered technology to clean out infected root canals thoroughly and efficiently.
Sedation Dentistry
If you’re nervous about your procedure, we can help you with sedation dentistry tailored to your needs.
Oral conscious sedation is a sedative that you take orally about an hour before your appointment so that you are already calm and relaxed when you arrive.
IV sedation offers deeper relaxation that often results in little to no memory of what happened during the procedure. A trained anesthesiologist administers IV sedation in the comfort of our dental office and tailors the potency to your anxiety level.
Don’t Ever Fear Another Root Canal!
In addition to experience, technology, and sedation, we also offer comforting amenities like neck pillows, blankets, ear plugs, and TVs in all our treatment rooms to help you relax.
If you have root canal treatment scheduled or are experiencing a toothache and think it might be an infected tooth, please call us! In Huntington Beach, you can reach us at (714) 968-2527, in Brea at (714) 257-0330, and in Placentia at (714) 577-9070. If you live in Cypress, call Cypress Smiles Dentistry at (714) 761-2211.
Periodontal Deep Cleanings
If you’ve ever worried that you have gum disease, your fears may be warranted; according to the Centers for Disease Control, 47 percent of US adults over age 30 have some degree of periodontal infection. Unfortunately, many aren’t aware they have it, so it goes untreated.
What Is Gum Disease?
Gum disease, also called periodontal disease, is an infection of soft tissues and bone that both surround and support teeth. Anyone from teens to adults can get gum disease, but it is more prevalent after age 30.
The first phase of gum disease is gingivitis, a mild infection that only impacts soft tissue. The second, more severe phase is periodontitis which spreads below the gumline, damaging tissue and bone that support the teeth’s underlying structures.
Symptoms of gum disease to look for are:
- Inflamed or swollen gums
- Pocketing between teeth and gums
- Gums that bleed when you brush and floss
- Gum recession
- Chronic bad breath for no apparent reason
If you notice any of these signs of gum disease, please call CDIC and schedule an appointment at one of our convenient dental offices in Orange County. Our dental hygienist will perform a thorough cleaning, evaluate your gum health, and let you know what periodontal treatment is necessary if any.
In Huntington Beach, reach us at (714) 968-2527, in Brea at (714) 257-0330, and in Placentia at (714) 577-9070. If you live in Cypress, call Cypress Smiles Dentistry at (714) 761-2211.
Advanced Gum Disease Treatment
We are pleased to offer the services of our in-house periodontist, Dr. Calvin Dang, who works out of our Placentia location. If necessary, he provides advanced gum disease treatment, including scaling and root planing, traditional and laser gum surgery, and soft and hard tissue grafting.
Traditional and Laser Gum Surgery
Gum disease affects millions, and the problem is that most don’t even know they have it until much of the damage is already done. Periodontitis or advanced gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss and also has been linked to heart disease.
At CDIC, we offer laser gum surgery or LANAP, a breakthrough procedure and a more comfortable, efficient alternative to traditional surgery.
Why We Recommend Laser Gum Surgery
Advanced gum disease causes gums to pull away from teeth and form pockets. Bacteria penetrate deeper into the pockets, which can lead to bone loss and even tooth loss.
To eliminate periodontal disease, we must remove the infection and close up the pockets. Laser gum surgery at our dental office is performed using patient-friendly LANAP, which stands for Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure.
Benefits of Laser Gum Surgery
Laser gum surgery detoxifies the mouth by removing the harmful bacteria causing the infection with no cutting, no stitches, and no pain. Since the procedure is so efficient, our periodontist typically treats the entire mouth during a single two-hour appointment.
Benefits of laser gum surgery include:
- A more comfortable procedure
- Shorter treatment times
- Better precision and less damage to healthy tissue
- No scalpels or sutures
- Fewer follow-up visits
- Faster healing
- Longer-lasting results
